Program Summary

The Code establishes that commercial developments, industrial developments, or residential projects of eight (8) dwelling units or more; with a total building project valuation of seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($750,000.00) or more; and all attached and detached additions to an existing commercial or industrial building, with a valuation of such addition of seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($750,000.00) or more are subject to a mandatory public art requirement.

Projects may satisfy the requirement by installing art on-site that is accessible and visible to the general public from public streets, with a minimum value of one percent (1%) of the total building construction valuation (excluding tenant improvements), but not to exceed fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00). Maintenance and conservation of the artwork will be the responsibility of the property owner. Alternatively, developments may pay a contribution of one percent (1%) of the total building construction valuation, but not to exceed fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00), to the Art in Public Places Fund.
