Program Summary

The Policy establishes that all urban renewal projects within a redevelopment area are subject to a mandatory public art requirement. Developers subject to the policy must provide and install artwork reviewed by the Authority and/or the Art Commission of the Pikes Peak Region when artwork is exhibited on public property such as parks and sidewalk easements. Budgets for public art requirements shall be no less than one percent (1%) of the estimated cost of construction unless otherwise negotiated with the Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority. Maintenance and conservation of the artwork is to be outlined in the project design guidelines.
