Program Summary

The Code establishes that all construction or reconstruction projects of commercial buildings with a building valuation of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) or greater; and all residential projects consisting of more than four (4) units with a building valuation of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) or greater are subject to a mandatory public art requirement.

Projects subject to the ordinance shall include an on-site installation of public art with a minimum value of one percent (1%) of the building valuation and a maximum value of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00). Maintenance and conservation of the artwork is the responsibility of the property owner. Alternatively, where the installation of art is impractical or inaccessible, developers may satisfy the requirement by making a contribution of the same value as calculated above to the Art in Public Places Fund.
